Wendy Ashcroft, EdD spent over 30 years as a special educator with a local school district, focusing her career on developing programs for learners with ASD. After retiring, she became professor and director of field experience at Christian Brothers University (CBU) in Memphis, TN. There, she enthusiastically taught both graduate and undergraduate education courses and supervised practicum and student teaching experiences for developing teachers. In addition, she initiated a special education degree and teaching licensure program at CBU. Dr. Ashcroft is also a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA-D).
Ashcroft earned a BA in psychology at Rhodes College and both an M.Ed. and Ed.D. in Special Education at the University of Memphis. Her areas of expertise include using principles of applied behavior analysis for teaching learners with autism, intellectual, physical, and multiple disabilities. She has presented at national and international special educational conferences throughout the United States on inclusion and evidence-based practices.
With colleagues, she has published two books with Routledge, Success Strategies for Teaching Kids with Autism and Social Skills Games and Activities for Kids with Autism, and five laminated guides for NPR, Inc. Dr. Ashcroft has also been an active leader of the Council for Exceptional Children (CEC) and the ARC. She is currently providing consulting services for local school districts.
